2008  On Monday, February 4, our council initiated four new members into the First Degree.  Let us welcome and congratulate these new Knights of Columbus. They are:
 
B.J. Brunner - St. Francis - Cross Plains
Richard Hackner - HMC - Oregon
Michael Phillips - HMC - Oregon
Brian Swenson - HMC - Oregon

2007  We've worked hard to provide service to our community and church.  We're pleased for the recognition of STAR council from our Supreme Knight.  Please see the letter below. Congratulations HMC Council!

 

2007  Dick Rydecki continues to organize the Adopt-A-Highway program for our Council.  Thanks Dick!!  Megan Peterson was fulfilling part of her Confirmation requirement for community service by doing the road cleanup.  Also helping keep our motorways clean were Brian Peterson and Mike Martin.

2007 Janelle Wanta Receives Knights of Columbus Scholarship Award

The Holy Mother of Consolation Knights of Columbus Council 13480, Oregon, WI, awarded Janelle Wanta, daughter of Dave and Julie Wanta, with a $500 scholarship during Mass on June 9, 2007  The award was the first scholarship award presented by the council. The award  recognizes her achievements in and commitment to  school, church and community.  Janelle  graduated from Edgewood High School  this June.  Jim Staniforth, Deputy Grand Knight, presented the award. Janelle achieved high academic standing throughout her four years of high school. She was a member of the National Honor Society. She played volleyball and tennis and was active in the band and drama productions in school. She was also very involved in the education and music programs at Holy Mother of Consolation Catholic Church. Janelle had a leadership role in the church’s high school choir, was part of the contemporary choir and played in the hand bell choir. She participated in the parish’s  Faith Formation Program as a teacher’s aide. In addition, she worked as a shift manager at the Custard Corner to help defray the cost of her continuing education.  Janelle also received a parish service award, which was presented by Fr. Bill Connell, at the same Mass.  Janelle is planning to attend St. Norbert’s College in DePere, WI where she will major in psychology and Spanish.

2007 Holy Thursday Supper was are rousing success again this year with the special treat of 4th Degree Knights attending and standing guard over the host.

 

 

2007 At the April meeting, we're proud to receive the plaque showing our sponsorship of Boy Scout Troop 50.

 

2007 Dan Krause scheduled and conducted the Basketball Free Throw Contest for Teens for the Council and District Level competitions in January and February.

 

2007 Norm Carpener is our Knight responsible for taking the CANS FOR CATERINA to recycling. Because of Norm's commitment,  HMC is able to send about $2,400 a year to our sister parish as a result of this effort.

 

2007 Knights help our sponsored Troop 50 with their great trailer.  It looks tremendous!

 

 

 

2007 We   pray for our departed Brother Knights and remember them with a plaque.

 

 

 

 

2007 Dick Rydecki to be nominated for the coveted Knights of Columbus Medallion Award!  Congratulations Dick!!!

2007 Four new members to our Council were inducted recently; Mark Kornaus, Brian Peterson, Martin Prew and Michael Mannix will add their talents to our endeavors.

 

 

 

2007 At the Knights of Columbus Diocesan meeting in Dodgeville, we did very well, receiving the Fr. McGivney Award, Columbian Award, Respect for Life Award and PKD Award.

 

 2007 We were proud to deliver significant checks donating funds to worthy causes from the proceeds of our Tootsie Roll Drive last year.  Key people from Special Education and Special Olympics were on hand to gratefully accept the monies.

Kristine Goetz received the Oregon Special Education Department award of $858.04

 

 

Oregon Special Olympics award of $858.03 went to Sue Haffele, Ken Casper and their Athlete.

 

 

2006 Our initial First Degree event was another rousing success for our Council.  Four new members joined the Knights of Columbus: Doran Jorgenson, Alan Beckham, Dan Grover and Michael Bjerke.  Special thanks to Jim Staniforth for his efforts for many months to pull the team and materials together.

 

 

2006 Sesquicentennial Celebration where the Knights played a key  role in the festivities.

 

 

 

 

 

2005 Fest-a-ful was a tremendous success with many Knights coming together to make the most of the first Parish festival we've had in many years.  We even came out a little better than even after the event.

2005, 2006, 2007 Our Pancake Breakfast on May 1st at Holy Mother of Consolation Church was another raving success.  All had a great time and everybody enjoyed a terrific meal together.  The craft sales were also successful, just like at our last breakfast.  See the picture from our last breakfast.

2005, 2006, 2007 Tootsie Roll Drive    Our first weekend collecting donations for children with special needs was a tremendous success!  Maynard Stoehr led the gang, coordinated the effort, guided the faithful and gathered the fruits of the labors.  Way to go, Maynard!

2005, 2006, 2007 Adopt-A-Highway    The Knights of the Council help to keep our highways clear of debris and litter.  We maintain a stretch of Highway M, West of Oregon, beginning at Fish Hatchery Road for one mile heading East.

 

 

2005, 2006, 2007 Basketball Free Throw Contest    Dick Rydecki and his gang successfully organized a fun contest to see which kids of various ages could make the most baskets.  One of Oregon's finest made it to the state finals, making us all proud!

2005 Church Flag Pole and Flags   Brother Maynard Stoehr headed up the effort to replace the seventy year old flag pole at Holy Mother of Consolation Church.  Now we have a tremendous, lighted and respectful showcase to honor our Country and our Vatican leadership.
